A FREE SPIRIT

My brother Alex was always something of a free spirit.  In fact, he insisted on spelling his name “Alecs” mostly just because he could.  Once he finished college, he bought himself a Harley and began riding around the country and up into Canada and Greenland and down into Mexico.  At some point, he sold his bike and started working on a boat until he had made enough money to buy his own.  Then he started sailing around the world and would send off postcards about him fighting pirates and sailing through horrible tropical storms.  And today?  He’s a personal injury attorney in Ohio.  I don’t really get it either.  How did someone so adventurous ever settle down?  How did he ever get into law school?  Alexander, as he now wants to be called, never comes right out and tells anyone about it, but he’s hinted a lot.  I think his wife, Joanna, is what caused him to come back to land.  He met her while she was vacationing in Ireland and she sailed back with him to the US.  Apparently, her father’s a big time lawyer in Cleveland and pulled some strings to get Alexander into law school and got him a job once he’d passed the bar.  I don’t know what the truth is, but my brother’s happy and that’s all that counts
